14th Annual Vicki Soto 5K

Fourteen years in, and over a thousand people still turn up for it.

The Vicki Soto 5K starts and finishes at the Amphitheater, and it exists to carry forward the work of the Vicki Soto Memorial Foundation. Vicki Soto was born and raised in Stratford and taught first grade; the foundation set up in her name funds education and literacy work, scholarships for people training to become teachers, and acts of kindness in the surrounding communities.

You do not have to race it. The organizers are equally happy with walkers, volunteers and people who come to stand on the sidelines and shout, and there are teams you can join rather than running alone.

What it costs. Registration runs through Race Roster, and you can donate to the foundation or to an individual participant without entering the race at all.

Good to know. There are food vendors on site, and a team store if you want the shirt.

Where to go. The Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater is on Broad Street in Bridgeport, with its own parking on site.
