A Gilded Age mansion dressed for Christmas, for the price of a coffee.

The museum opens for an afternoon of seasonal decor, trees and holiday displays, with the Holiday Exhibit Unwrapping Christmas Past: From Puritans to Pop Culture running alongside. It takes a historical look at seasonal traditions and makes an unusually good backdrop for family photographs, which the museum says out loud.

Santa's hours. Santa Claus and his elf are there from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, greeting children and taking Christmas wishes, then they head back to the North Pole. If that is the reason you are going, go early.

Good to know. $5 admission through the museum's Eventbrite page. The Mansion's pop-up cafe is open throughout with complimentary refreshments, and proceeds go to the museum's education work.
