Les Misérables (Sunday Matinees)

Thirty years later, he is back in the room. This time he is running it.

Les Misérables closes out A.C.T.'s season, and the story behind this particular production is as good as the one on stage. Artistic Director Daniel C. Levine appeared in the Broadway production of Les Misérables in the mid-1990s, the show that helped launch his Broadway career. More than thirty years on he returns to it from the director's chair.

The musical itself needs little introduction. Nineteenth-century France, a country on the edge of revolution, and Jean Valjean given a second chance at life only to find himself relentlessly pursued by Inspector Javert. Around them a cast of characters whose lives collide in the pursuit of love, justice, freedom and hope.

And the score is the reason people come back to it: “I Dreamed a Dream”, “On My Own”, “Bring Him Home”, “Master of the House” and “One Day More” are all in there.

Good to know. Rated PG and recommended for ages 10 and up. Tickets run through A.C.T.'s own OvationTix box office, and the three-show season packages start at $218 plus fees, rising to $315 for the VIP package, which adds a reserved parking spot per party and a complimentary drink per person.
