A harp from Venezuela and a banjo from North Carolina, on one stage, in Redding.
Larry Bellorin, of Monagas in Venezuela, and the Grammy nominated Joe Troop, of Winston-Salem, play a fusion of Venezuelan and Appalachian folk traditions, with storytelling, singalongs and a good deal of humor between the tunes. Both are multi-instrumentalists, so the bilingual set moves across harp, banjo, cuatro, fiddle, upright bass, guitar and maracas.
A reception follows the performance. The Allen and Helen Hermes Arts Series was founded in 2003 with a gift from the couple to the library, and exists to put visual, literary, theater and musical arts in front of Redding.
It is free, but book. Seating is limited and registration is required, so register early.
Where to go. The Mark Twain Library is at 439 Redding Road.
