Base Camp Parenting: Worry Less to Help Your Kids More

Good parents worry. That is the assumption the two authors on this stage have spent their careers taking apart.

Susan Bauerfeld and Chris Parrott wrote Base Camp Parenting: Worry Less to Help Your Kids More around a single question: what does parental worry actually do to the environment a child grows up in, the base camp they set out from every morning? Worrying feels necessary, loving and protective. The authors come to discuss how worry culture has reshaped the way parents raise children, and what parents get back when they worry less.

Bauerfeld is a licensed clinical psychologist with a PhD, an IFS therapist, a parent consultant and coach and an ADHD coach. Since retiring from private practice she speaks on anxiety, child-raising, learning differences and technology. Parrott is a Chartered Counseling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a board-certified coach whose practice centers on emerging adults and their parents, and she co-wrote Reach Before You Teach: Ignite Passion and Purpose in Your Classroom and Doing Therapy Briefly.
