Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (Sensory-Friendly Performance)

The house lights stay up. The strobes stay off. Nobody minds if you need to move.

A.C.T. of CT runs a sensory-friendly performance of each mainstage production, and this is the one for Beautiful. It is the full show, with the technical elements adjusted: strobe lighting omitted, jarring sound effects taken out, and the house lights left dimly lit right through rather than dropping to black. The story is Carole King's, from teenage songwriter in Brooklyn selling hits to everybody else, to the woman who stepped out front and made Tapestry, told through songs most of the audience already knows by heart.

It's free. There is no ticket price for the sensory-friendly performance. A.C.T. underwrites the series through donations.
