Reading English is one skill. Holding your own in a room full of people talking is a different one, and it only comes from practice.

New Canaan Library’s beginner and intermediate English Language Learning class meets Monday evenings and puts speaking and listening first. Sessions work through current events, American culture and the sort of odd facts that get a conversation moving, with the emphasis squarely on comprehension and confidence rather than worksheets.
