Bluegrass Nights at The Granite

An open jam, a house band, and then more jamming until people go home.

Bluegrass Nights is the Granite's monthly celebration of the music, and it is built so you can come to listen, come to jam or come to learn. An easy, led slow jam for beginner and intermediate players starts at 7:30pm, the Granite House Bluegrass Band plays at 8pm, and late night jamming afterwards is open to everyone. Banjos, fiddles, guitars, dobros, mandolins, bass and similar acoustic instruments are all welcome.

Who hosts it. Austin Scelzo of Danbury, who studied fiddle traditions at Mark O'Connor's Berklee String Camps and learned every bluegrass instrument along the way. He performs with The Rock Hearts and Americana quartet On the Trail, teaches jam camps, and has been named a Connecticut Arts Hero and nominated Mentor of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association.

The other dates. Bluegrass Nights runs one Thursday a month rather than on a fixed weekday. The remaining dates this season are 24 September, 29 October and 17 December. There is no November night.

Good to know. No ticket, donations appreciated. Part of The Granite Bluegrass Series, and a recipient of the 2026 IBMA Foundation Project Grant.

Where to go. The Granite sits on North Main Street in the Georgetown corner of Redding, a short run for anyone in lower Fairfield County.
