A farm goes on strike, and the negotiating is done entirely by typewriter.

Farmer Brown declares the farm a tech free zone when his granddaughter Jenny comes to stay, and leaves her laptop out in the cold barn with the cows. The cows use it to type a polite request for blankets. Farmer Brown refuses. The cows strike, the chickens come out in solidarity, and the milk and eggs stop.

Whether Farmer Brown gives in, and whether Jenny ever sees her computer again, is the business of a very funny and quietly moving musical about negotiation and compromise, adapted from the Caldecott Honor Book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin.

Good to know. Recommended for ages 4 to 9, approximately 60 minutes. This is the afternoon show; there is an 11am earlier the same day.

Where to go. The Playhouse is at 80 East Ridge Road in Ridgefield, behind the town hall, and it is an easy run in from anywhere in lower Fairfield County.
