Cows that type. Hens on strike. Farmer Brown is not coping.

When his granddaughter Jenny comes to visit, Farmer Brown declares the farm a tech free zone and confiscates her laptop, leaving it in the cold barn with the shivering cows. The cows, reasonably, use it to type a message requesting blankets. No way, says Farmer Brown. No blankets. So the cows go on strike, the chickens join them in solidarity, and suddenly there is no milk and no eggs.

Will Farmer Brown give in? Will Jenny get her computer back? It is a hilarious and surprisingly moving musical about negotiation and compromise, based on the Caldecott Honor Book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin.

Good to know. Recommended for ages 4 to 9, running about 60 minutes. This is the 11am; there is a 2pm the same day.

Make a day of it. Show your ticket at Dimitri's Diner, 16 Prospect Street in Ridgefield, before or after the show and they take 10 percent off your meal.

Where to go. The Playhouse is at 80 East Ridge Road in Ridgefield, behind the town hall, and it is an easy run in from anywhere in lower Fairfield County.
