Twenty-seven words, and not much agreement anywhere about what they mean.
Mike McIntire joins the Mark Twain Library on Zoom for the second part of its Constitution series, on the Second Amendment and America's long and contested relationship with guns. The conversation covers the amendment's history and how its interpretation has shifted since ratification, the forces that shaped American gun culture, and the way recent Supreme Court decisions have moved the national argument. McIntire is a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist with The New York Times and the author of Ricochet: Guns, Greed and the American Way of Violence, and he has spent decades reporting on where politics, public policy and power meet.
