Drawing water is harder than drawing the thing in it. This course tackles both: the colourful marine life below the surface, and the effects moving water creates around it, from rays of sunlight and ripples to bubbles and the shifting patterns on sand.
You choose your own subject, whether that is jellyfish, an octopus, seahorses, coral or shells, and the sessions work through the best techniques for whatever scene you have picked rather than everyone drawing the same thing. It runs Friday mornings in the Dayton Program Room.
What to bring. A 9x12 inch or larger pad of Canson Mixed Media paper, a set of coloured pencils (watercolour pencils are better, but wax-based are fine), and a graphite pencil, mechanical for preference, for light sketching.
When it runs. Fridays from September 18 through October 30, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. There is no session on October 9. Registration is required.
