Bring the email you were not quite sure about.
George Avidon, the Mark Twain Library's Director of Technology, holds an open half hour for anyone with a question about suspicious emails, online scams, device security, social media, pop-up warnings, passwords or privacy. The premise is that technology is part of daily life and occasionally feels risky, that a seemingly harmless click can turn into a privacy problem or outright fraud, and that a few simple habits plus a better sense of how accounts actually work make a real difference. It is deliberately a forum rather than a lecture: people bring their own recent experiences and the room works out what to make of them. The library's aim is that you leave able to tell when something online merely looks odd and when it is clearly wrong, and knowing what to do next.
The remaining dates. Wednesday 28 October, Wednesday 18 November and Wednesday 16 December, each 12:30pm to 1pm. It is usually the third Wednesday of the month, but October's falls on the fourth, so check the date rather than assuming.
Good to know. Free, drop in, no registration at all.
