Ridgefield Theater Barn Presents Stand-Up Comedy Showcase August 28

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield Theater Barn will present a special Stand-Up Comedy Showcase on Friday, August 28, 2026, featuring a lineup of professional comedians alongside local audience favorites from the Barn’s popular Open Mic series.

The evening will be emceed by Blaine Langberg and headlined by Annie Powell, with Calvin Cato as featured comic and Peter Khoo as special guest.

Annie Powell, a regular headliner at the iconic Nick's Comedy Stop in Boston, began her stand-up career in Los Angeles in 2013 before returning home to New England, where she has become a familiar presence on the regional comedy scene. Performing everywhere from comedy clubs and theaters to casinos—and even the occasional funeral—Powell is known for a raw, unapologetic style that finds humor in life’s more absurd and uncomfortable moments.

Featured comic Calvin Cato has been named one of Time Out New York’s LGBTQ Comics of Color to Watch and has appeared on or contributed to projects for Oxygen, Netflix, SiriusXM, RISK! and WIRED. His comedy has taken him to events including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, Brooklyn Pride and FlameCon, and his work also appears in Kweendom, an anthology of essays by queer comedians and entertainers.

Special guest Peter Khoo is a New York City-based stand-up who performs regularly at Gotham Comedy Club and has appeared at venues throughout the city including West Side Comedy Club, Stand Up NY, EastVille Comedy Club and The Grisly Pear. A finalist in the 2024 Hudson Valley Comedy Festival, Khoo was also selected for several comedy festivals in 2025 and frequently headlines shows presented by the American Comedy Institute.

Also taking the stage will be the winners of Ridgefield Theater Barn’s recent Stand-Up Open Mics: Maggie Lindrooth, Matt Orefice, Barry Schaffer, and Darla Shaw. Each earned a spot in the Showcase after being selected as an audience favorite during the monthly Open Mic series.

Emcee Blaine Langberg will guide audiences through an evening that brings together the emerging talent fostered by the Barn’s Open Mic series with experienced comics from the greater New York and New England comedy scenes.

The Stand-Up Comedy Showcase started as a vehicle to highlight Ridgefield and Fairfield County’s bevy of hilarious, not-yet-discovered local comedians. This showcase takes place Friday, August 28 at Ridgefield Theater Barn, 37 Halpin Lane, Ridgefield, CT. Doors open at 7:00 PM and the show begins at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $25.

Ridgefield Theater Barn offers cabaret-style seating, and audience members are welcome to bring their own food and beverages. Concessions are also available.
