Disney's Hexed at the Prospector Theater

A teenager finds out she is a witch. Her mother already knew.

Walt Disney Animation Studios pulls Billie, an impulsive suburban teenager, out of her ordinary life and into a witch realm called Hexe. The catch is that she has to go with her cautious mother, Alice, and the two of them start turning up family secrets the witches would rather stayed buried. Fawn Veerasunthorn, Jason Hand and Josie Trinidad direct. It runs an hour and 49 minutes.

Good to know. Rated PG for action and some rude humor. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for kids 11 and under. Those 10:45am shows over Thanksgiving weekend are the earliest the Prospector runs all year, which makes them the easy pick if you want to be out and back before downtown fills up.

Every ticket does some good. The Prospector is a nonprofit theater built to employ adults with disabilities, who the theater calls Prospects. They greet you and seat you before every show. Closed caption devices and descriptive audio headsets are available at every first-run show.

Make a night of it. The Heads Up Café inside the theater pours coffee, beer and wine, and the ceiling is covered in pennies hand-placed heads up by the Prospects. Downtown Ridgefield's Main Street restaurants are a short walk away.
