The question is always what is for dinner, and this is a book built entirely around answering it better.
Kay Chun, a contributor to New York Times Cooking, joins the library to celebrate the launch of her debut cookbook, Gather Around My Table: Simple, Flavorful Recipes from My Global Pantry. She demonstrates a favorite recipe and talks through where a great recipe actually comes from, which for her is a question of inspiration.
As a lifelong New Yorker she finds that inspiration everywhere, and the book draws on a global pantry: the Korean flavors she grew up with alongside the many other cuisines that have shaped her cooking. The recipes are flavor forward and meant for every day of the week, fresh but familiar enough that a whole family will actually eat them.
Bring your wallet. A book signing follows the discussion, with copies available for purchase from Elm Street Books.
Good to know. Registration is required. Note that the library's page lists a registration close date of November 19, which is the day after the event itself and looks like a slip, so do not count on booking late.
Where to go. The Jim and Dede Bartlett Auditorium and Kend Kitchen.
Check before you go. New Canaan Library does not publish a price for this program. Confirm the cost and registration details on the venue's event page before you plan around it.
