Godzilla Minus Zero at the Prospector Theater

War took Japan to zero. Godzilla took it below that.

Two years on from the last attack, the country has clawed its way back toward something like ordinary life. Takashi Yamazaki, who wrote and directed the film, gives that recovery about as long as it takes to believe in it. Then a new threat arrives and takes the hope away in an instant. Ryûnosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe return, and the film is billed as the end of the story rather than another chapter. There is no third time. It runs 2 hours 15 minutes, in Japanese with subtitles on the screen.

Showtimes. Friday through Sunday at 12:45, 4 and 7pm. Monday and Tuesday at 4 and 7pm. Wednesday, November 11 at 12:45, 4 and 7pm. That Wednesday is Open Caption Day at the Prospector, but this film's shows run with closed caption devices instead of captions on the screen. Thursday, November 12 at 12:30pm. Heads up on the R rating. Rated R for some violent content and bloody images. Anyone under 17 needs a parent or adult 21 or older to give permission in person at the Prospector box office.

Good to know. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for kids 11 and under. The theater suggests arriving 30 minutes early to grab concessions and good seats.

Every ticket does some good. The Prospector is a nonprofit theater built to employ adults with disabilities, who the theater calls Prospects. They greet you and seat you before every show. Closed caption devices and descriptive audio headsets are available at every first-run show.

Make a night of it. The Heads Up Café inside the theater pours coffee, beer and wine, and the ceiling is covered in pennies hand-placed heads up by the Prospects. Downtown Ridgefield's Main Street restaurants are a short walk away.
