Heart of the Beast at the Prospector Theater

A plane crash. The Alaskan wilderness. One man and his dog.

Brad Pitt plays Special Forces officer James Belmont, stranded deep in Alaska with his combat dog Odin after a harrowing crash. The two have only each other as they fight the elements to survive. David Ayer directs, with J.K. Simmons in the cast. It is an intense adventure about the bond between a man and his best friend, running an hour and 41 minutes.

Showtimes. Thursday at 4 and 7:15pm. Friday through Sunday at 1:15, 4:30 and 7:15pm. Monday and Tuesday at 4 and 7:15pm. Wednesday, September 30 is Open Caption Day, with captions on screen at 1:15, 4:15 and 7:15pm. Thursday, October 1 at 4 and 7pm. Times can change, so check the showtimes page before you go.

Good to know. Rated PG-13. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for kids 11 and under. The theater suggests arriving 30 minutes early to grab concessions and good seats.

Every ticket does some good. The Prospector is a nonprofit theater built to employ adults with disabilities, who the theater calls Prospects. They greet you and seat you before every show. Closed caption devices and descriptive audio headsets are available at every first-run show.

Make a night of it. The Heads Up Café inside the theater pours coffee, beer and wine, and the ceiling is covered in pennies hand-placed heads up by the Prospects. Downtown Ridgefield's Main Street restaurants are a short walk away.
