Introduction to Drawing: Four-Session Course for Adults

Drawing is mostly learning to see accurately. The hand catches up later.

A later session of the four-part drawing course at New Canaan Library, working through composition, proportion, perspective, line, gesture, value and texture and applying them in original work. Observational drawing from still lifes and figures sharpens how you measure spatial relationships and describe form. Each class opens with a demonstration and then moves to individual guidance for every student.

About the instructor. Jeanne McDonagh is a mixed media artist and teacher who retired after 42 years teaching at high school and college level, and has been making work since 1968 across photography, mixed media painting, soft-acrylic batik and drawing.

Good to know. Register for the first class to attend the whole course. All materials are provided.
