Love Shadows at The Granite
Arts & Culture

Two Juilliard classmates who decided to improvise everything.
Shabnam Abedi and Joe Block met as classmates at Juilliard and have since formed a powerful duo, performing their diverse repertoire around New York at clubs including Mezzrow and Dizzy's. Their music is a spiritual journey of lyrical, textural and harmonic storytelling. As artists they are vulnerable, dramatic and spontaneous, aiming to create a space where an audience can reflect and feel. They embrace true improvisation, so the shows are always fresh, daring and captivating, and never quite the same twice.
How the evening runs. Doors at 7pm, cabaret show from 7:30 to 9pm, then an open mic from 9 to 10:30pm.
What cabaret actually is. It puts a performer, usually someone steeped in theatre repertory, in a relaxed and intimate room. The whole point is the singer's connection with the audience and the breaking of the fourth wall.
Good to know. Tickets are $45.
Where to go. The Granite sits on North Main Street in the Georgetown corner of Redding, a short run for anyone in lower Fairfield County.
