Luminare Christmas!

A holiday rock concert built like a blockbuster, with the lighting rig to match.

Luminare Christmas! is led by the former Mannheim Steamroller keyboardist who spent years as musical director for Dennis DeYoung of Styx, and the band's sound sits exactly where that resume suggests: reimagined holiday classics, high energy symphonic rock, and a cinematic sweep somewhere between Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Hans Zimmer. A heartwarming story runs through the performance and a full lighting show runs over it, and the vocal and instrumental writing is lush enough to carry both.

Who it suits. The show is pitched at all ages, so it works as a family night out as easily as a night for people who want the Christmas album played loud.

Good to know. The concert sits in two of the Playhouse's programs at once, the Addessi Jewelers Holiday Series and the Pepsi Rock Series. The box office opens one hour before any scheduled performance if you would rather buy your ticket in person.

Where to go. The Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 East Ridge Road, Ridgefield.
