The first event on the official book tour, and it is happening on Main Street before the book is even on sale.
New Canaan Library hosts local author Jenny Van Leeuwen Harrington for the opening night of her tour. The premise of the book is that the useful investment thinking is not what gets said in public talking points but what experts tell people at their own dinner tables. Harrington and co-author Rebecca Patterson gathered insights from 25 seasoned finance professionals, cutting through the jargon to collect the personal stories, hard-won principles and practical thinking those people pass to the ones closest to them. The official release of Investment Wisdom for Our Friends and Loved Ones: Timeless Lessons from Today's Top Finance Experts is 17 November, so this is a chance to hear it first. Harrington is joined in conversation by contributing chapter authors Nana Adae, Helen Nitkin and Katie Stockton.
Harrington is chief executive and portfolio manager at Gilman Hill Asset Management, an income-focused boutique investment firm in New Canaan, where she manages the flagship Equity Income strategy she created. Before joining Gilman Hill in 2006 she was a vice president in private wealth management at Neuberger Berman, having begun on Wall Street as an analyst in Goldman Sachs' Private Client Services group. Adae is a managing director and product manager at JPMorgan Chase Asset and Wealth Management, where she leads product, technology and investment analytics teams; she previously ran investments for the Private Bank Chicago team, held advisory roles at Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers, and before all of that served as a U.S. Navy cryptologic officer.
