Open Caption Day at the Prospector Theater

Every movie. Every show. Captions on screen.

On Open Caption Day the Prospector puts dialogue captions at the bottom of the screen for every showing on the schedule. Everything else is a normal day at the movies: lights down, full theatrical sound. It is a simple way to make the newest releases work for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing, and plenty of other people just like following along. Every show that day carries audio description as well.

What's playing. Heart of the Beast at 1:15, 4:15 and 7:15pm. Forgotten Island at 1, 4 and 6:45pm. Coyote vs. Acme at 1 and 4:30pm. Practical Magic 2 at 4 and 7pm. Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom at 1:30pm. Times can change, so check the showtimes page before you go.

Good to know. Regular ticket prices apply: $15 for adults and $13 for kids 11 and under.

Every ticket does some good. The Prospector is a nonprofit theater built to employ adults with disabilities, who the theater calls Prospects. They greet you and seat you before every show. Closed caption devices and descriptive audio headsets are available at every first-run show.
