Patti LuPone: Matters of The Heart

Two dozen love songs, and Patti LuPone has an opinion about every one of them.

Matters of the Heart is LuPone's theatrical concert exploring the crimes, the affairs and the general mysteries of the heart, and this tour marks the 25th anniversary of its Broadway engagement. She has also performed it on London's West End and on national and international tours. The material ranges from Broadway standards to work by contemporary songwriters, all of it delivered the way only she delivers things.

The show is conceived and directed by Scott Wittman with musical direction by Joseph Thalken. Original arrangements were by Dick Gallagher with additional arrangements by Thalken, and it was written by John Weidman with additional material by Jeffrey Richman. There is a string quartet.

It is based on the 1999 recording of the same name, which both The Times of London and Time Out New York named one of the best of that year.

Where to go. The Playhouse is at 80 East Ridge Road in Ridgefield, behind the town hall, and it is an easy run in from anywhere in lower Fairfield County.
