Poetry Workshop and Author Talk with Local Author Sofia Giammarco

She has wanted to publish a book since she learned to write. She is still in high school, and it is done.

Sofia Giammarco gives a short talk about her writing process and her new poetry collection The Colors of Shadow and Rain, takes questions from the room, and then leads a short writing workshop in which everyone produces something of their own.

Giammarco is a teen author whose first book is The Colors of Shadow and Rain. Her favourite things to write are poetry, dystopia and fantasy, though she ranges wider than that, and her work tends to pull together individualism, female empowerment and the fragile, stressful parts of being a teenager. When she is not writing she is on a tennis court, behind a book, or playing her violin.

Good to know. Registration is required, and note that it closes at 9am on the day rather than at the start of the session. New Canaan Library does not publish a price for this program, so confirm on the library's event page before you plan around it.
