Reinventing Postmodernism with Smithsonian Curator Carolyn Russo

Rauschenberg and aviation, which is not an obvious pairing until somebody makes the case for it.

Carolyn Russo, author and Smithsonian curator, joins the Mark Twain Library online to talk about her book The Ascent of Rauschenberg: Reinventing the Art of Flight. The conversation is about where one of the most influential American artists of the century found his inspirations, how unexpected some of them were, and how far he took them. Russo curates at the Smithsonian, which puts her unusually close to both halves of the subject.

Good to know. Free, on Zoom, and registration is required through the library's author series platform rather than the library's own form.

Where to go. Nowhere. This one is online.
