Everyone plants in spring. They are wrong. Autumn is actually the better moment to put things in the ground and take a hard look at what your lawn and garden are doing, and Ridgefield Conservation Commission chairman Erik Keller is spending an evening on exactly that.

He covers the full range: lawns, trees and shrubs, annuals and perennials, and the safe use of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, all through the lens of landscaping that works with the local ecology rather than against it. Keller has served on the commission since 2019, is a certified Master Gardener in Connecticut, holds a certification in horticultural therapy from the New York Botanical Garden, and wrote the book A Therapist's Garden.
