Eight hundred and thirty two acres of Ridgefield have just been studied, and the findings are the point of this evening.
Forests across the Eastern United States face a stack of overlapping threats: insects, invasive plants, and the land use decisions people make around them. Commissioners Tony Markert and Erik Keller review how those issues apply here, then turn to the results of a recently commissioned study of the Pine Mountain, Hemlock Hills and Lake Windwing tracts.
Markert holds a master's degree in natural resources and a graduate certificate in restoration ecology from Auburn University. He has completed the Connecticut Master Woodland Manager program and volunteers with the Connecticut Audubon Society, where he works on forestry projects. Keller is Chairman of the Commission, a Master Gardener in the State of Connecticut, and a certified horticultural therapist.
Good to know. Registration is required.
Where to go. The Main Program Room.
One thing to check. The library's listing shows registration closing on November 12, three weeks before the talk, which looks like a copied date rather than a real deadline. If the form has closed, call the library rather than assuming the evening is full.
Check before you go. Ridgefield Library does not publish a price for this program. Confirm the cost and registration details on the venue's event page before you plan around it.
Please check with the organizer if the event date, time or offer has changed.** LTO
