Four musicians walk into a gallery and play the art back at you.
The RSO Quartet is the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra's four principal string players: Jorge Avila and Mialtin Zhezha on violins, Suzanne Corey-Sahlin on viola and Nicholas Hardie on cello. Between them they have played with orchestras, in chamber groups and in recital worldwide, and they come together as a quartet for programs that are as engaging as they are serious.
This concert is built around The Aldrich Decennial: I am what is around me, the museum's current exhibition, which runs to 10 January 2027 across every gallery and the sculpture garden and features artists who live and work in Connecticut. The quartet writes a fresh program for each of these collaborations, and this is the sixth year running that the orchestra and The Aldrich have done it together. Past programs have pulled in Mozart, Schubert, Missy Mazzoli, Tito Puente, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Philip Glass, and one of them carried a world premiere with the composer in the room.
These sell out. The October 2024 edition at The Aldrich sold out, and so did the quartet's night at the Ridgefield Theater Barn. Book early.
Getting in. General admission is $42.50 including fees. RSO members and Aldrich members both pay $37.50.
Where to go. The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is at 258 Main Street in Ridgefield.
