Silhouettes by Deborah O'Connor
Arts & Culture

Twenty-nine appointments, and they go fast.
Silhouettes is a Ridgefield Historical Society holiday tradition and a benefit for the Society, and it returns to the historic Scott House for one Sunday in December. Rhode Island artist Deborah O'Connor cuts each portrait by hand in exacting detail, a lost art she has practiced for more than forty years.
Who can sit. Children, families and pets, dogs and cats included. A hand cut silhouette makes an unusual holiday gift.
What it costs. Silhouettes start at $30 each. The Society does not publish a full price list, so confirm the cost for what you want when you book.
Book ahead or miss it. There are only 29 appointments and the event sells out quickly every year. Reservations are made online through the Society.
New this year. Silhouettes can also be cut from digital profile photographs submitted online in advance, and the Society recommends that route for pets.
Where to go. The Scott House, 4 Sunset Lane in Ridgefield. For more information call 203-438-5821.
