Studio 170 Sound Sessions: Inside Improvisation with Stephen Blum

The written part of a jazz tune is the smallest part of it.

Studio 170 Sound Sessions closes at the Danbury Library with Inside Improvisation, guitarist Stephen Blum opening up what actually happens in a solo — the choices, the listening, the risk of playing something that has never existed before and will not again. The Farioly Room is set up as an intimate live studio, close enough to follow every decision as it is made. Presented in partnership with the Jazz Foundation of America.

Good to know. Free, ages 16 and up, and no registration required. No prior music knowledge needed — just come and listen.

Make a night of it. The library is on Main Street, so dinner in downtown Danbury before the set is a short walk.
