Styx

Eighteen studio albums, and the newest one is only three years old.

Styx have released Circling From Above, a thirteen-track, forty-one-minute album that examines the human experience through the lenses of technology and nature, building on the momentum of The Mission in 2017 and Crash of the Crown in 2021. The cover art says it plainly: a flock of starlings forming a single bird over a broken satellite dish.

All seven current members feature, Tommy Shaw, James "JY" Young, Chuck Panozzo, Todd Sucherman, Lawrence Gowan, Will Evankovich and Terry Gowan, with Evankovich producing and the songs co-written by Shaw, Evankovich and Lawrence Gowan.

Shaw's own explanation for the late-career run of form: "Bands can go lifetimes and never have this kind of rapport and chemistry."

Good to know. Doors open at 6pm.

Where to go. The Palace Theatre sits on Atlantic Street in downtown Stamford, an easy run from anywhere in lower Fairfield County, with restaurants and parking within a short walk.
