Tai Chi
Fitness & Gym

A martial art slowed right down, which turns out to be the hard part.
Tai Chi instruction is back at the library on Sunday lunchtimes with Phillip Coyle. The practice is centuries old and the claims made for it are modest and well worn: better balance, physical and mental, a suppler body, less stress, and some help with blood pressure. The weekly series mixes gentle low-impact cardio, functional fitness and Tai Chi inspired movement, finishing with relaxation.
Every level. Each class carries both modifications and challenges, so it works whether you have done this for years or are starting from nothing, and it is built for all ages and all fitness levels.
What to wear. Loose clothing and flat shoes.
Good to know. Free, in the Schaffner Room, and registration is required through the library.
