Tech Recycling Day

A day to clear out the drawer of dead technology. Bring old phones, tablets, laptops, hard drives, PCs, Macs, printers, TVs and DVD players to the Lower Level of the Library. Computer parts are physically destroyed on site by library staff and volunteers before anything is recycled, which is the part that matters if you have been hanging on to an old drive because you did not know what was still on it.

Other home electronics and small appliances are accepted too. Not accepted: large kitchen appliances, or anything containing mercury, Freon or hazardous liquids.

Recycling and final disposal are handled by Take 2 Inc of Waterbury, the Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority's certified electronics recycling provider.

Good to know. Suggested donation is $20 per item, supporting the library's technology initiatives. Worth knowing that e-waste recycling is free at the Ridgefield Recycling Center, so the donation here is genuinely a donation — what you are paying for is the on-site data destruction and not having to make a second trip. No registration.
