The Gilded Age Christmas Cookbook: Cookies and Treats from America's Golden Era
Historical

Nearly everyone has heard of sugar plums and almost nobody has eaten one. They are not, for the record, sugar-dusted plums.
Built on the Gilded Age Christmas Cookbook, this talk goes through the holiday traditions that took hold in the period and have never let go, the Christmas tree, Santa Claus and the sending of cards among them, and the food and occasions that went with them, from debutante parties and teas to New Year's celebrations and grand balls.
Make a day of it. A tasting and refreshments follow the presentation, in the Rotunda.
Good to know. $15 for members and $20 for non-members, through the museum's Eventbrite page.
