Four and a half hours of Massenet, arriving in Ridgefield straight off the Met stage.
Manon is a masterpiece of the French repertoire, following its young heroine from the glamour of Paris to her tragic undoing. Nadine Sierra, who has already carried La Sonnambula, Romeo et Juliette, La Traviata and Lucia di Lammermoor in this series, takes the title role in a stylish staging by Laurent Pelly, the director behind Cendrillon.
She is joined by Matthew Polenzani, Carlo Bosi, Andrzej Filonczyk, Rod Gilfry and Jean Teitgen, with Yves Abel conducting.
Good to know. This is a live transmission rather than an encore screening, and the estimated running time is 4 hours and 25 minutes with two intermissions.
Who makes it possible. The Met Live in HD series at the Playhouse is supported by Liz and Steven Goldstone and Whistle Stop Bakery.
Where to go. The Ridgefield Playhouse is at 80 East Ridge Road in Ridgefield.
