The Met Live in HD: Otello (Verdi), Encore

Jealousy has rarely been handed a better score to work with.

Verdi's monumental Shakespearean tragedy follows a triumphant war hero driven to destruction by jealousy and by the hatred of the people around him. Tenor Brian Jagde, whose Met credits include La Forza del Destino, takes the title role opposite soprano Ailyn Perez, of Florencia en el Amazonas and Falstaff, as Desdemona. Deborah Nansteel, Piotr Buszewski, Artur Rucinski and Vitalij Kowaljow complete the cast, Michele Mariotti conducts and Bartlett Sher directs.

This is an encore screening in the Met: Live in HD series, which sends performances from the Metropolitan Opera stage out to cinemas worldwide. Allow about 3 hours and 20 minutes, with one intermission. The screening was rescheduled from its original date in May 2026.
