The Peking Acrobats

They build a tower out of chairs, and then somebody goes up it.

For thirty two years The Peking Acrobats have been redefining what audiences expect from Chinese acrobatics. They perform daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs and display serious technical command across trick cycling, precision tumbling, juggling, somersaulting and gymnastics, pushing at the limits of what a human body will do through contortion, flexibility and control.

They are frequently accompanied by live musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments, and the combination of that music with high tech special effects and the acrobatics itself produces something closer to a Chinese carnival than a conventional stage show.

Good to know. Recommended for all ages, which here genuinely means all ages.

Where to go. The Playhouse is at 80 East Ridge Road in Ridgefield, behind the town hall, and it is an easy run in from anywhere in lower Fairfield County.
