Toad The Wet Sprocket: Rings, The Acoustic Tour

Four friends met in a high school theater group in Santa Barbara in 1986 and named themselves after a fictional band from a Monty Python sketch. Glen Phillips, Todd Nichols, Dean Dinning, and Randy Guss then recorded their debut, Bread & Circus, DIY-style in a tract home for six hundred dollars. Columbia Records heard it. What followed was a career built on stubborn independence: Fear went platinum in 1991 and produced the top 20 hits "All I Want" and "Walk on the Ocean," and Dulcinea went platinum again in 1994 with "Fall Down" and "Windmills."

Rings: The Acoustic Sessions takes fourteen of their most enduring songs and rebuilds them from the ground up in intimate arrangements. It is pointedly not a nostalgia record; it is a band still invested in its own catalog, tracing the growth rings of four decades. "If you're feeling isolated and you need to gather yourself back to remember how much you love your life, music is your friend," says Phillips. "We want people who come to our shows to feel at home for a while."
