The process has changed enough that the advice your own parents gave you is now actively unhelpful.
A Zoom session from New Canaan Library for families of high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors, covering where college admissions currently stands: the trends and strategies that matter now, the still-shifting test-optional landscape, why researching and visiting colleges is what actually produces a good fit, and the timeline that makes a fall productive instead of frantic. It goes into the holistic review in some detail — what admissions officers weigh, and how a student builds a personal narrative out of real strengths and interests rather than a list. There is also a serious look at community service and ‘passion projects’, and how to turn genuine interests into something that shows initiative and commitment rather than box-ticking.
Presented by Ron Feuchs and Jackie Tepper, partners at Stand Out For College.
