Weston America 250 Art Show: Weston Middle School Eighth Grade
Arts & Culture

Thirteen eighth graders, in oils, on the 1700s.
Weston Middle School ran an art show for America's 250th, and thirteen of its eighth grade artists were selected to show their oil paintings here. The subject is Weston and Connecticut history through the 1700s and early 1800s, which is a serious brief for a fourteen year old and a much better one than it sounds.
It also sits deliberately alongside the center's two Revolutionary War exhibits, so you get the history and then thirteen fresh readings of it in the same visit.
Who made it happen. Weston Middle School art teacher Mary Reamer. The selections hang in the Visitors Center Conference Room.
When you can see it. The exhibit is up through 17 December, and the center opens to the public on Thursdays from 1 to 4 and on the first and last Sunday of each month, same hours. They close on holidays and holiday weekends, so check before a long weekend.
What it costs. $5 for adults and $3 for children 5 to 17, free for members and for any child four or under. They take cash, card or check at the door.
Where to go. The center is at 104 Weston Road, but parking and the entrance are off High Acre Road, not Weston Road, and everyone checks in at the Visitor's Center. Worth knowing before you circle the block.
