Wilton Library Memory Café
Wellness

The idea started at an Alzheimer's café in Holland: a room where nobody has to explain or apologise for anything.
Wilton Library runs its Memory Café with RVNAhealth, the independent nonprofit that has served western Connecticut since 1914. It is a relaxed monthly afternoon for people living with memory challenges and the people who care for them, built around conversation, company and something to do together. Across the year that means music, storytelling, therapy pet visits, crafts and refreshments. This month the library welcomes back Laconia Therrio, a therapist, chaplain and Director of Behavioral Science at Stamford Hospital's Family Medicine Residency Program, who tells folktales, myths and fables gathered from the Americas, Africa, Europe and Asia on the principle that stories show us how alike we are.
Good to know. Free. RVNAhealth dementia specialists and library staff are on hand throughout. Every participant must be accompanied by their care partner for the full hour.
How to register. Call Caryn at 203-762-6320 or email cfquinn@wiltonlibrary.org with both names and a phone number or email.
