Write It Down Or Improvise? at The Granite
Concert

Two trios, one jazz and one classical, in the same room asking the same question.
The impact of jazz on American classical and theatre music runs deep, and this programme explores how it crossed over through composers comfortable working on both sides of the line. The players are Lana Auerbach on violin, Miriam Liske Doorandish on cello, and Andrew Levine and David Morgan on piano.
Auerbach is a Newtown-based violinist and fiddler, concertmaster of the Woodstock Symphony Orchestra, a member of string band Bugs on a Log and the founder of a community Old Time Jam in Redding. Liske-Doorandish, an Iranian-American cellist raised in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, studied at the Royal College of Music, Oberlin and Yale, and took silver at the 2022 Fischoff Competition with Trio Ondata.
Doors open an hour early. Doors at 1pm for a 2pm start.
Good to know. Tickets are $45, and the Granite holds back a small number of Pay What You Can tickets for every concert in the series, so cost does not have to be the reason you miss it.
Part of a series. This is one afternoon of America: A Portrait in Sound, the Granite's Fall 2026 Sunday Chamber Music Series.
Where to go. The Granite sits on North Main Street in the Georgetown corner of Redding, a short run for anyone in lower Fairfield County.
