Kristin Key: Ca-Caw Tour

Kristin Key: Ca-Caw Tour

7:00 PM

Comedy

Doors 7:00pm, Show 8:00pm

Kristin Key grew up a minister’s daughter in the conservative West Texas town of Amarillo. Unsurprisingly, when Kristin came out of the closet at 16, it did not go well. So, she said, “just kidding!” and went back in the closet. At 19, while in college to become a paramedic, Kristin signed up for a local open mic that would change her life forever. After searching for connection and self-expression, she felt at home the moment she took the stage. Though her outrageous observations and quick wit made her a local favorite, she still remained in the closet, fearful of how her new fans would react. Small shows in the Texas panhandle turned into touring the country where audiences fell in love with Kristin’s original comedy songs and rapid-fire humor coming from the “preacher’s kid.” After reaching a national audience as a finalist on NBC’s last comic standing, Kristin moved to LA.

While performing at an anti-bullying fundraiser in 2015, Kristin felt inspired to come out (again). For the first time ever, she publicly shared her journey of coming out, taking it back, living in the closet, and meeting her wife. Now 20 years after that first open mic, Kristin is a nationally headlining comedian, viral sensation, sober, and happily married. With hilarious material about everything from queer culture and relationship dynamics to cats and crocheting, Kristin is proud to use her platform to live her truth and inspire others to do the same. with every show or viral video, she’s building a powerful and inclusive community of comedy fans from all walks of life.

To date, Kristin has recorded six full-length stand-up comedy albums and one studio music comedy album. Her social media videos have over 95 million views and Kristin has over 900,000 followers. She currently hosts Kristin knows blank, a popular comedy podcast available on all major streaming platforms. Kristin’s additional credits include comics unleashed, vh-1’s 100 greatest series, the Bob and Tom show, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

Doors 7:00pm, Show 8:00pm

The Lightfoot Band is not a tribute act—these are the original musicians who recorded and toured with Gordon Lightfoot for decades. Featuring Rick Haynes (bass), Barry Keane (drums), Mike Heffernan (keyboards), and Carter Lancaster (guitar), the band is joined by Andy Mauck on vocals and guitar, honoring Lightfoot’s legacy while playing Gord’s trademark Martin D-18 and Gibson B-45 guitars.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald tragedy and Lightfoot’s iconic song inspired by it. The Lightfoot Band delivers unforgettable performances of this and other classics, including “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Sundown,” “Early Morning Rain,” and deeper cuts from Gordon’s catalog – some of which haven’t been played live in decades. Meet The Trio

The Kingston Trio is an American folk and pop music band that emerged from San Francisco’s North Beach club scene in 1957. With their unique sound and rich tradition of American folk music, the Trio quickly rose to fame during the late 50s and early 60s, influencing the musical tastes of a generation. Their unprecedented record sales and worldwide fame cemented their status as one of the most influential bands in music history. Today, The Kingston Trio continues to inspire and entertain audiences with their timeless music and captivating performances.

Mike Marvin: Taken in by the Reynolds family as a teen, Mike learned the craft of music directly from Nick Reynolds of the Kingston Trio and became part of the group’s inner circle. He later toured as a folksinger, then pioneered ski-film editing with the groundbreaking 1972 feature Earth Rider, one of the earliest works to sync music precisely to action.

An author, artist, and designer as well as a musician, Mike now splits his time between Los Angeles and the southern Oregon coast. He performs with the Kingston Trio and serves as the group’s CEO, playing Martin D-28 guitar and Deering Plectrum Banjo with his signature “Patron Tequila Baritone.” A native of Lake Tahoe, he has been performing for over 50 years.

Tim Gorelangton: Born in Hawaii like Bob Shane and Dave Guard, Tim grew up across the U.S. in an Air Force family and likes to say, “This whole country is my hometown.” He began on woodwinds in high school and later served in U.S. Army Headquarters bands in San Francisco and Stuttgart. With music in his blood—a ukulele-playing father from Honolulu and a mother who sang around the house—Tim went on to perform in folk and bluegrass groups throughout Northern California and Nevada.

A seasoned singer-songwriter, he wrote “Colorado Sun,” which reached No. 11 in the western U.S. Tim is also one of the few musicians outside the Kingston Trio that Nick Reynolds ever recorded with. As the Trio’s Chief Musical Director and arranger, he is dedicated to keeping the group’s music true to its roots. Tim plays the Martin J40, Vega Pete Seeger Longneck Banjo, and Guild F512 12-string.

Buddy Woodward: Americana veteran Buddy Woodward was practically born into folk music—his parents met in 1959 when his father auditioned for his mother’s folk group, The Mark III Trio, and even proposed onstage. His mother taught him baritone ukulele at age five, and Buddy soon dove into his parents’ Kingston Trio records. A lifelong fan and longtime friend of the group, he performed at their 45th Anniversary Tribute at the Birchmere in 2002.

An award-winning singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist with Top 10 Bluegrass and Americana radio hits, Buddy has over 40 years of touring, recording, and studio experience. He’s also a producer, music director, and proud member of Actor’s Equity with appearances on stage and television. Buddy likes to say he’s been preparing his whole life to join The Kingston Trio—and hopes Nick, Dave, Bob, and John would approve.

Dr. Lisa Miller

Dr. Lisa Miller

7:00 PM

Talk Series

Doors 6:00pm, Show 7:00pm

A groundbreaking exploration of the neuroscience of spirituality and a bold new paradigm for health, healing, and resilience—from a New York Times bestselling author and award-winning researcher.

Whether it’s meditation or a walk in nature, reading a sacred text or saying a prayer, there are many ways to tap into a heightened awareness of the world around you and your place in it. In The Awakened Brain, psychologist Dr. Lisa Miller shows you how.

Weaving her own deeply personal journey of awakening with her groundbreaking research, Dr. Miller’s book reveals that humans are universally equipped with a capacity for spirituality, and that our brains become more resilient and robust as a result of it. For leaders in business and government, truth-seekers, parents, healers, educators, and any person confronting life’s biggest questions, The Awakened Brain combines cutting-edge science (from MRI studies to genetic research, epidemiology, and more) with on-the-ground application for people of all ages and from all walks of life, illuminating the surprising science of spirituality and how to engage it in our lives.

Absorbing, uplifting, and ultimately enlightening, The Awakened Brain is a conversation-starting saga of scientific discovery packed with counterintuitive findings and practical advice on concrete ways to access your innate spirituality and build a life of meaning and contribution.

In The Spiritual Child, psychologist Lisa Miller presents the next big idea in psychology: the science and the power of spirituality. She explains the clear, scientific link between spirituality and health and shows that children who have a positive, active relationship to spirituality:

  • are 40% less likely to use and abuse substances

  • are 60% less likely to be depressed as teenagers

  • are 80% less likely to have dangerous or unprotected sex

  • have significantly more positive markers for thriving including an increased sense of meaning and purpose, and high levels of academic success.

Combining cutting-edge research with broad anecdotal evidence from her work as a clinical psychologist to illustrate just how invaluable spirituality is to a child’s mental and physical health, Miller translates these findings into practical advice for parents, giving them concrete ways to develop and encourage their children’s—as well as their own—well-being. In this provocative, conversation-starting book, Dr. Miller presents us with a pioneering new way to think about parenting our modern youth.
