A.C.T. of CT Announces Its 2026-27 Season in Ridgefield
Hey, neighbors! A.C.T. of CT is one of the places we come back to every year. We're season ticket holders, so when a new lineup is announced, we start circling dates on the calendar. The 2026-27 season is here, and it opens tonight, Thursday, October 22, with Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
A.C.T. of CT, short for A Contemporary Theatre of Connecticut, is a nonprofit professional theatre at 36 Old Quarry Road in Ridgefield. It works with Actors' Equity, the union for professional stage actors and stage managers. The theatre was co-founded in 2018 by Artistic Director Daniel C. Levine, Bryan Perri and Katie Diamond, and this is its ninth season.
Here is what is coming to Old Quarry Road this year.
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical

October 22 to November 22, 2026
Before she was Carole King, she was Carole Klein, a young songwriter from Brooklyn. Beautiful follows her from writing hits for other artists to recording her own album, Tapestry. Along the way you'll hear songs like "You've Got a Friend," "Up on the Roof," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" and "Natural Woman."
The book is by Douglas McGrath, with words and music by Gerry Goffin and Carole King and Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Parker Esse directs and choreographs, with music direction by Alex Gutierrez.
Performances: Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm, Sundays at 2pm
Good to know: Rated PG. A.C.T. of CT recommends it for ages 8 and up.
Broadway Unplugged

December 7 and 8, 2026
Between the mainstage shows, A.C.T. of CT hosts Broadway Unplugged, a cabaret-style evening. Bryan Perri, A.C.T. of CT's Resident Music Supervisor and a Broadway music director, sits at the piano with a Broadway performer for stories, conversation and live singing. Past guests have included Aaron Tveit, Jessica Vosk, Lindsay Mendez and Ana Gasteyer.
The guest for December hasn't been announced yet. A.C.T. of CT notes that the series often sells out before the guest is named, and season subscribers get early access to tickets.
Avenue Q

February 4 to March 7, 2027
Winter brings Avenue Q, the musical that mixes human actors with puppets. Princeton, a recent college graduate, moves into a run-down apartment on Avenue Q in New York and finds friendly neighbors, an unusual neighborhood and plenty of questions about jobs, dating and what to do with his life. A.C.T. of CT describes it as "part flesh, part felt and packed with heart."
Music and lyrics are by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, with a book by Jeff Whitty. The show won three Tony Awards.
Good to know: Avenue Q is rated R and recommended for ages 16 and up, so plan this one as a grown-up night out.
Les Misérables

May 20 to June 20, 2027
The season closes with Les Misérables, based on the novel by Victor Hugo. In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean is given a second chance at life while Inspector Javert pursues him and revolution stirs in Paris.
This production has a personal connection for the theatre. Artistic Director Daniel C. Levine, who appeared in the Broadway production in the mid-1990s, is directing.
Performances: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 7:30pm, Sundays at 2pm. There is no performance on Friday, June 4, the night of A.C.T. of CT's annual gala.
Good to know: Rated PG. A.C.T. of CT recommends it for ages 10 and up.
