Amélie

She lives quietly in the world and very loudly inside her own head.

Amelie improvises small, surprising acts of kindness on the people around her, and they bring joy and a fair amount of mayhem in roughly equal measure. It works beautifully as long as she stays behind the scenes. Then a chance at love turns up and she has to work out whether she can risk saying what she actually feels out loud.

It is a musical about an imaginative dreamer finding her voice and discovering what connection costs, and it keeps finding possibility in corners most shows would walk past.

The book is by Craig Lucas, with music by Daniel Messe and lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Daniel Messe, adapted from the Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Guillaume Laurant film.
