Three couples find out they are expecting. None of them is ready in the same way.

Baby follows a college-age pair, a couple in their thirties who have been trying for years, and a pair in their forties who thought that part of life was behind them. What it does with them is unusually honest for a musical: the joy is there, but so is the fear, and the score keeps finding the places where those two are the same feeling.

The book is by Sybille Pearson, from a story developed with Susan Yankowitz, with music by David Shire and lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr., who also directed the original Broadway production. It has spent forty years as one of the best kept secrets in the form. The Playshop production is directed by Matt Pagliaro, with music direction by Andrew Gadwah and choreography by Jessica Rae Foulds.

Eight performances. Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Friday 30 April and Saturday 1, Friday 7 and Saturday 8 May at 7:30pm, plus Sunday matinees on 25 April and 2 May at 2pm.
