Recurring Event: Third Saturday
Runs October 17, 2026 - December 19, 2026
VENUE:
137 Old Ridgefield Rd, Wilton, CT 06897, USA

One entry requirement: you read something you wrote, out loud, to the room.
The Connecticut Poetry Society's Wilton chapter runs its workshop on the straightforward principle that poems get better when other poets look at them. Send your work ahead to Ed Ahern at salmonier@aol.com and he circulates it to the group shortly before the session, so everyone arrives having already read everyone else. That is what makes the two hours worth having rather than a queue of cold readings.
November moves outdoors, and it is not a workshop. The 21 November session runs as Poetry in the Preserve: An Afternoon of Words in the Wild, 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Wilton Land Trust's Chestnut Meadows, 183 Ridgefield Road. Local and invited poets read in the open air and anyone there is invited to share an original or favorite poem at the end. It is co-sponsored by the Wilton Land Trust and Wilton Library. Weather permitting it is in the outdoor amphitheater near the barn, so dress for the conditions; it moves indoors if the weather turns. Registration is still required.
Good to know. Free, but each session is strictly capped at 15 attendees and online registration is required for the date you want. Register online or call 203-762-6334.
Where to go. Wilton Library at 137 Old Ridgefield Road, in Wilton Center, except for the 21 November session described above.
