Dead on Live: Celebrating the Music and Legacy of the Grateful Dead

Note for note, needle to vinyl, every instrument and every vocal as recorded.

Sixteen years ago the touring and recording veteran Marc Muller assembled a cast of world-class musicians to perform Workingman's Dead and American Beauty for their fortieth anniversary. He chose a format nobody had tried: play the records exactly as they were recorded. That was the beginning of Dead On Live, and since then they have recreated virtually all of the Dead's commercial releases plus some of the more notorious live productions.

This is their debut at the theatre, and they are bringing two full sets of deep cuts and favorites from across the catalogue. True to the spirit of the source material, there is still plenty of improvisation and jamming built in.

Good to know. Tickets are $39.50 flat, one of the better value nights of the autumn.

Where to go. SHU Community Theatre sits on the Post Road in downtown Fairfield, within a short walk of the town center restaurants and an easy run in from anywhere in lower Fairfield County.
