Eva Ayllon

Fifty years as a legend of Afro-Peruvian music, and she still carries the whole country onstage with her.

Eva Ayllón holds her homeland of Peru in her heart and in her spectacular songs. Known as the Queen of Landó, she has been a defining figure in Afro-Peruvian music for over five decades. In 2019 she received the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, on top of ten previous nominations for Best Folk Album.

The rhythms she works in — landó, festejo and the rest of the Afro-Peruvian tradition — are built for movement, and a room like The Warehouse suits them.
